Oct 28 2037: Programs Problems Highlighted by Latest Scandal - by EmeraldSeasSunshine on March 17th, 2024

Unfortunate news has come to light tonight. Messages from Assistant Coach Ethan Cook to recruit Robert Jewell have been exposed to the media. In multiple messages, Cook threatened Jewell to come to Nicholls State or he would release his entire families information to the public, including his pet hamster Hammy.

There's more. Over suspicion of Cook potentially having access to this type of information, his phone was checked by police. There disturbing images, including the names of all of Jewell's family members and unspeakable plans to get him and Hammy to come to the University of Nicholls State, were revealed.

As of 11:48 PM, Ethan Cook has been arrested for conspiracy and has been promptly fired by the University. Simon Hart is set to fill the role temporarily while the Colonels seek to recover from yet another set back.

Mar 13 2037: Nicholls Has A Chance... - by EmeraldSeasSunshine on February 28th, 2024

Times have been rough for the Colonels, but tomorrow they can rewrite the narrative with a win over one of the best teams in the Country in Corpus Christi... And they have a legit chance.

Out of all the teams in this conference, over the past two seasons, the Colonels defense has been arguably the best matchup for the electric offense of the Islanders. They have the size, the speed, and the tenacity to achieve the impossible. It'll be about heart, as the Colonels look to put together one of the greatest defensive efforts in history.

Win or Lose, The Colonels vow to fight together

Mar 08 2036: Apology to Bridgeport - by EmeraldSeasSunshine on January 4th, 2024

Smokes: Next year we will RESTORE OUR RIVALRY WITH THOSE PESKY KNIGHTS! Oh, what's that? I'm supposed to APOLOGIZE? Well, in that case, I'd like to extend a heartfelt apology to President Base and the Bridgeport fans, we didn't realize how much damage we caused by leaving for a flaky rival. We will do better in the future because WE FROM THE SOUTH BABYYYYY! AND WE GOTTA SHOW THAT SOUTHERN LOVE TO OUR OPPONENTS. PEACE OUT AND MERRY... OH WAIT IT'S MARCH. WE'LL SEE Y'ALL IN OCTOBER PESK... I MEAN BEAUTIFUL SHINY KNIGHTS! MAKE SURE YOU HEARD IT RIGHT PEOPLE, THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL SHINY KNIGHTS!

Mar 11 2035: Hardwood's Ruling - by EmeraldSeasSunshine on November 10th, 2023

Jay Coleman, who was technically fired, has been forcefully reinstated. After examining the case, Big Hardwood has determined that it's a violation to promote an Assistant Coach without 2 seasons under his belt. Therefore, Coleman must stick around for the 2036 Season.

There's more. Allegedly, Jay Coleman helped devised the gameplan for the First Round of the Conference Tournament, already knowing he was to return. Given how tough the Colonels played, President Smokes, while dressed in his G.O.A.T Halloween costume, addressed Coleman about a potential proposition following the game. You win 20+ games, and finish top-8, you stay another year. Coleman has since accepted that offer.

It'll be interesting to see how this young team responds to all this turmoil, while demoting to the depths of D-III Basketball. Will they rise from the ashes to reclaim their glory? Or will they continue to crumble until there is nothing left? Talk is cheap, action is everything. Coleman has learned that lesson.

Jan 25 2035: Coleman Fired; Steady The Shipp - by EmeraldSeasSunshine on October 26th, 2023

After one of the worst seasons in school history, Coleman was already looking like he was on his way out. Today's game was the final straw. The Colonels lost to UPR Bayamon 94-26, prompting significant worries within the Athletic Department.

94-26. This may go down as one of the worst, if not the worst loss in Nicholls States history on a team that has amassed just 3 wins throughout the season. The players had been battling tough for much of the season, but something went wrong around the Bethany game, where the Colonels would get whooped 91-41. From there, they have been absolutely destroyed in a majority of their games, only fighting back to make it close against Emory.

Now, their is no question the games have been tough. UPR Bayamon is good, very good. The Colonels also have the toughest strength of schedule in D-II. However, the fight is gone. Before the Bethany game, they were consistently battling despite the large talent advantage, now they are dead. Schianchi cannot lockdown all of a sudden, Patterson can't score, Blackburn has struggled, Orellana and Smith are turnover machines when they were expected to be reliable ball handlers, even 7'1 Jerome has lost his mojo. This team needed a change of direction fast, before this incredibly talented youth goes to waste.

That's why after today's game the Colonels have officially decided to relieve Jay Coleman of his duties. The move was set for the offseason, but Nicholls has seen enough.

"The fans are angry, the Alumni have lost their spirit, the team has lost its spirit. We are hopelessly wandering into our games and getting manhandled. Yes, we expected to lose a lot of games, but this kind of performance is straight up embarrassing," said one fan.

Statements from Coleman and Smokes

Coleman: "I've let everyone down. We had the fire burning and I let it sizzle out. I'm not gonna sit here and lie to you, being 60 Years of Age has been hard for me to come to terms with, as my body continues to degrade. Perhaps it has played a role in me not being fully invested. We knew this was gonna be a rough, 7-10 win year. Nobody saw this coming. 94-26. I cannot believe I coached that. I've had a great run, ya know, making the NCAA with this gritty program was fun, traveling the Colonels up to D-II for the first time in a decade. It's been special, but I acknowledge my time is up and I am content with it. These 5 years have been some of the best of my life and I will forever cherish these guys. I was fortunate to have some really great players throughout my tenure and in the last calendar year, I failed to get them to play to their potential. I'm sorry and I love all of you. I'm forever a Colonel through thick and thin. We. Are. Nicholls."

Smokes: "This is a setback. I respect Jay a ton, but WE GOTTA WIN GAMES! THIS THE SOUTH, YOU EITHER COME IN HERE IN WIN OR YOU GET KICKED IN THE A**. YOU KNOW WHICH ONE IS GOIN' DOWN! We need a change. DON'T FRET THOUGH, COLEMAN IS STILL GONNA BE WITH US! WE HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP HIM AS A MOTIVATOR FOR THE TEAM AFTER GAMES, SO HIS LEGACY WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE ON IN THESE PLAYERS SOULS! IN THEIR SOULS!

"Anywho, SHIPP GET UP HERE! IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO STEER THE CREW OUT THE WATER AND BACK TO LAND! SON, YOU ARE OFFICIALLY THE HEAD COACH OF NICHOLLS STATE, EFFECTIVE AT THE START OF THE 2037 SEASON! BE PROUD AND PASSIONATE, AND WE WILL WIN! WE TRUST IN THE SHIPP! WOOOOOOOOOO!"

It's a bittersweet day in Thibodeaux. Coleman is out as the head coach after leading the Colonels to D-II, however, the emerging Colin Shipp gets a shot to bring this program out of the ashes and rise...this. could. be. special.
