Nov 24 2022: First Conference Win Under New President - by dcon_28 on December 5th, 2021

In the first conference game of the 2022-23 season, the Northern Colorado Bears defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers 73-70. The Bears were boosted by a strong first half that got them out to a 10 point lead, as well as having 4 players scoring double digits. Rafael Rodriguez chipped in with a 12 assist performance, getting him ever closer to the elusive double-double average. However, his journey will have to wait after he suffered a wrist contusion at the end of the game against Sacred Heart. After the game, coach Joshua Schmidt only had one thing to say: "We need to get better. Yes, we won, but we're shooting free throws horribly, 6th worst in the conference if I remember right, and we're also 6th worst in field goal percent and 3-point percent. So yeah, we need to be better." We'll see how it goes with 4 difficult games coming up against SUNY Canton, Colorado, Liberty, and Saint Louis.

Oct 19 2022: First Season for New President - by dcon_28 on November 25th, 2021

In the first game under the direction of President dcon and coach Joshua Schmidt, the Bears of Northern Colorado lost 79-77 against Susquehanna on a heartbreaking buzzer-beating 3-pointer by River Hawks point guard Caleb Clayton. However, this was a very good performance by the Bears, with 4 out of 5 starters scoring double-digit points and point guard Rafael Rodriguez racking up 9 points and 10 assists. The Bears shot a meager 51% from the field, but also 52% from beyond the arc, so there's still something to be proud of for this team. Next up on the non-conference schedule is Slippery Rock, but more importantly #20 Ohio comes after them, so we'll see how the Bears can hang with the best of the best in Hardwood.
