Dec 05 2037: Ray of sunshine - by Fireballer34 on March 27th, 2024

The team is 2-2 in conference play, and President Fireballer34 says his only goal for the season is not to get demoted, and to land both of our recruits. The first goal may be difficult, but a 6 point win over Westminster gave the team hope that they can have another mediocre season like the last 2. A reporter interviewed coach C.C. Dykes, asking “Do you ever plan to promote out of division 2?” Longtime coach Dykes responded with “Maybe, we’re seeing how it goes and we hope that the young guys turn out good and can help this team in the future.” Throughout the start of the season, the teams Ray of sunshine has been, well, SG Franklin Ray. He’s averaged 15 PPG and is the senior leader of this team. Other notable players have been Bert Moran, who has stepped into the starting PG role after Parr and Constantini graduated, and he is also averaging 15 PPG, including 21 in the win today. Gordon Creech and Bradley O’Leary have produced similar numbers to each other, with around 10 PPG and 7 RPG. The two big men have been consistent and have kept Albany in the middle of the pack in terms of rebounding. As for recruiting, SF Jamie Bell is expected to commit soon, but PG Lamar Cox has an uncertain future, as he is mixed up with a gang and may not be allowed to come to college. If he were to come though, he would be a fantastic addition to this team. The Great Danes hope that they can continue this mediocrity and hopefully remain in conference V.4, their home of 3 years now.

Oct 24 2037: Albany finally falls in rivalry - by Fireballer34 on March 15th, 2024

Albany finally lost a game to rival Utah, with a huge 98-58 loss today. Albany has regressed since their last matchup while Utah has only improved. Albany only shot 40% from the field, and 27% from three, while the Utes shot 56% percent from 3! Most of that could be attributed to Bill Beasley, who went 6-9 from 3 and scored 31 points, a new career high. Utah had 6 more rebounds, 2 more blocks, and stole Albany’s ball 9 times! A bright spot in the loss was Mike Ventura, who only had a -8 +/- in 22 minutes and added 11 points and 6 rebounds, definetly Albanys star of the game. Albany looks to defend their pride next year at the same day, same time, so they can redeem themselves in the hearts of fans. This game puts the overall series at 2-1 Albany.

Oct 15 2037: Expectations - by Fireballer34 on March 12th, 2024

As we head towards the 2038 season, the management at Albany has low expectations. Nevertheless, they hope that we avoid demotion another year, as we don’t have many seniors graduating and we can only get better. SR SG Franklin Ray is expected to lead the team, as the veteran and highest skilled player, and the most experienced. He played a lot last year and succeeded, scoring 13 ppg. This year he is expected to put up at least 15 ppg. At point guard we have JR Bert Moran, who has been waiting a while for his chance to start. He is very talented but has always been overshadowed by Nathan Parr and Dane Constantina, who graduated this past year. Also getting a chance to start this year is SO Frankie Sullinger, who is filling the big shoes of recent HOF inductee Jonathan Hook. SF/PG Allen Ridley may also get a chance to play in his Freshman season, as he is the primary backup at both positions. At PF SO Gordon Greece will be starting, he played a lot last year for a Freshman, averaging 9.1 points. This year he will be expected to step up and play hard. He is only 6’3 1/2 but he plays like he’s 7 ft. 4 star freshman Marshall Lions will also get some time, as the most highly rated prospect the new president has managed to bring in. Since he’s only 6’2, he’ll play more SF but he’s extremely versatile and can play almost anywhere. A lot of the recruiting last year was spent on big man depth, and that’s exactly what we got. JR Bradley O’Leary will be the primary center, and behind him Mike Ventura, playing both C and PF. The 3 others are all very tall but most are being redshirted for the future. Recruiting this year will be important, as it is crucial for the team to land Lamar Cox, a highly touted PG that has a bit of a reputation as a drug dealer. The team hopes he stays out of trouble and come play for them. The other is SF Jamie Bell, who has a sweet shot and should commit to the team. This will be another tough season, but ever since we’ve been promoted we’ve been battling to stay here, and it seems like this season will be the same. The team trusts coach C.C. Dykes to lead this team to victory once again.
