Disappointing End to a Strong Season -
by livestrong47 on June 18th, 2024
It was a disappointing exit for CNU in the Conference Tournament, losing 75-61 to a hardy Depaul team that made their shots count when they needed to.
Second year head coach Richard Rowan attempted to balance the disappointment with additional perspective.
"We always want to win, period. There's also something to gain in every loss."
CNU will need those gains as they prepare to promote into the 3rd tier for the first time in school history, extending their first-ever consecutive season stay in Division 1.
"This team has a lot to be proud of. We ran out of gas at the end of the season and I believe it showed in the performance. We all know in this Hardwood universe that *beep* happens, so we'll keep working on our game and our moment will come."

New Heights -
by livestrong47 on June 1st, 2023
Christopher Newport achieved new levels of success this season under the leadership of first year head coach Marvin Lewis.
"We're proud of what this group accomplished, and look forward to building upon it as we promote into Division 2 next season."
CNU brought home their third Conference Title and first Conference Tournament Title en route to an Elite Eight appearance. Even though the group fell short of their goal of a Final Four, it does not sully a record-setting season.
CNU has an active 15 game home winning streak, and set school records in Conference record (29-1), total wins (43), and the season culminated in said Elite Eight appearance as a top seed in the regional final.
"Hardwood gonna Hardwood" Coach Lewis said, "but we'll be ready to continue this success at the next level."
