Im new here, i wanted to wait a while to hear what everyone had to say on the matter. After carefully reading most of the opinions, while it would be good to limit the number of higher rated prospect from going to said situation, at the same time is it worth confusion that it could cause from people wondering what happens if a player they were recruiting becomes rated higher? My thoughts would be to keep the system as is and if someone from a lower division want to risk it all on a higher prospect they shouldn't be discourage to do so. While i inherited a team in the higher division, you would assume i would've been all for it since it would have probably help me since im new, but there is growing pain sometimes and that's how you learn and make better decision, lets not stop people from being dedicated, give the players the freedom to do as they want and may the best prevail at the end

I'd suggest building the limitation into the system. So you're not just removing the option all together. Some ideas below.

Make prestige more meaningful and use that to limit lower tier teams from landing elite recruits. i.e. higher ranked recruits would prefer higher prestige teams. (not all, just most)
Prestige could reflect how well a team has done over the last 5-10 years.
-Coach changes, losing records, getting relegated, etc. should drop your prestige.
-Winning record, tourny wins, championships, getting promoted, maybe POG, etc. would raise prestige
-Perhaps each division could have a cap on prestige?

You could also limit it using a budget system. higher division teams would have a higher recruiting budget and thus more recruiting points.

To go along with those you could hide some of the info on recruits until enough points have been spent on them. Let us see the numbers but hide all the text descriptions of their potential. Hide their prestige, school or timeline preferences. Maybe do two types of recruiting points, one for calling, one for scouting. each one reveals something different.

I'm thinking that taking the easy route by simply restricting player recruiting based on the division the recruiting team is in has already been decided. At least some form of that will most likely be used even though that route isn't all that favorable to the majority of managers in the game.

With that said above CrypticDemon has come up with a good suggestion on how to fix the recruiting system. I think that doing something like he suggested would be fair for everyone and being fair is whats needed. Doing it the other way is not fair. The only benefit to the other idea is that its easy. Why not fix it the right way.

A suggestion by me to add to what was said above. If recruiting is based on prestige when the human manager abandons the team and a bot takes over then all or most of the teams prestige should be lost. That way getting a top team won't be as big of a deal any more.

Good idea Cryptic...

I do really like the prestige factor meaning more. The other option could work too with higher level teams having more points, but I'd hate to have a lower end team lose a player in one night because a higher conference team stored points and uses them to steal someone overnight.

I'm sure we've all had a team go from no interest to high in one night on someone that we were on.

One issue in increasing the prestige factor is the increase in prestige is the same across all divisions. So MIT got the same increase in prestige by winning the division 1 national tournament as Saginaw Valley State did in division 3.

@Gophy :
Four star recruits' interest went from (high ++) to(medium) after my team got demoted to division 3 last year.

Happened with 2 of them ,PG/SG Milt Blankenship and
PF George Henley.

PS: 120+ recruit points went down the drain .lol

Demoting didn't help but you also had a RS FR at center (Hulsey) which really hurt the interest for Henley.
